Framing Begins Saturday 2/22/2014!

Pouring the Slab - 2/20/2014

Pictures are from last Thursday, February 20, 2014.  Santos and his crew were ready for the concrete to be poured at noon last Thursday, but the concrete company didn't show up til 4:00 p.m.!  (they were supposed to arrive with the first truck at 12 noon!)  And when the truck finally arrived, the pump line was broken so Santos' guys had to pour the concrete manually!  It was sort of a disaster.  The poor guys were at the job site until 1:00 a.m. finishing the slab!  We brought them some fried chicken and sweet tea, so hopefully that made the situation better...?!  Anyways, the daytime pictures below were taken at 1:00 p.m. that Thursday.  Shows the form work.  The night time pictures were taken at about, 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. that night.  Needless to say, Santos and his crew took the following day off.

Forming the Slab - 2/15/2014

Galvas Construction finally put up his job site sign and the dumpster and port-o-potty were delivered!

That's OUR wood, in case you couldn't tell.

The architect inspecting the placement of the slab form work set by the concrete and framing subcontractor, Santos Martinez.  Viewed from street/front of house.

Jonathan is standing on the wood pilings, the height at which the front porch will sit.

Standing in the garage, looking (through a future wall) over into the Dog Room.  Yes, there will be a room just for the dogs.  There will be a door that leads out into the back yard (toward the top right of the picture).

View of wood pilings where the front porch will sit, viewed from street.

Again, the porch will be at the height of that 2x12 that is resting on top of the pilings.

Pilings at front of house (front porch level).

Location of the Dog Room and storage space to the left on the slab.

Oh, that's me!  Standing in the garage, while Jonathan shoots the picture from atop the pilings at the front porch.  The main living/dining area and master bedroom level will be ANOTHER level higher than this!  It's gonna be a killer view!  Can't wait to see it.

That's all for today, slab will be poured Tuesday (hopefully), after they've laid the steel mesh and rebar.

Progress: Pilings Installed - 2/11/2014

Finally! It has been over a month since the lot was cleared and filled back in January! But Choctawhatchee Bay Piling and Dock, Inc. finally got out to the lot today (Tuesday, February 11th). They installed the wood pilings and Regional Utilities was also on site hooking up the water line.

Next up?! Pouring the concrete slab in the garage! Hopefully things will move more quickly now that we've had forward progress with construction.
